01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Despite its name, the lemon pie is made with a tart shell, tangy lemon cream and Italian meringue. Some visitors have been particularly taken with the balance of the lightly sweet, tart cream, toasted meringue and crisp pastry. It makes a fine treat alongside a latte or long black.

At Allways Cafecito Roasters, the menu goes beyond coffee and sweets, with light bites reflecting food cultures from Chile and Australia. The Chilean classic Pino Empnada combines seasoned beef and pork with onion, olives and boiled egg, all wrapped in homemade pastry. There is also a Ham & Cheese Empanada filled with mortadella and mozzarella. For something more substantial, the Chilean-style hot dog Completo comes in homemade bread with avocado and tomato. One diner also singled out its house-made bread.

For a meal-like option, try the focaccia sandwich filled with mortadella, fresh mozzarella, arugula and tomatoes from Kawamura Farm. Visitors have described it as generously filled with vegetables and satisfying, making it a breakfast or brunch option. Drinks include flat whites, cappuccinos and hand-drip coffee; one visitor shared an iced mocha and a lamington. This Australian sponge cake is filled with jam and finished with chocolate and coconut—a different kind of sweet to enjoy with coffee.
